Delete your Svelio account
You can permanently delete your Svelio account and the personal data we hold for it. This page explains exactly how, what gets removed, what we're required to keep, and how long the process takes.
How to request deletion
You have two equivalent ways to request account deletion. Both trigger the same backend deletion pipeline.
Option A — In the Svelio app (fastest)
- Open Svelio on your phone (iOS or Android)
- Sign in to your account if you're signed out
- Go to Settings → Account
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account
- Confirm by typing
DELETEin the confirmation field
Deletion begins immediately. Your account is signed out, your profile and content are scheduled for removal within 30 days (see below).
Option B — Email request
Email hello@svelio.io with the subject Account deletion request. Include:
- The email address associated with your Svelio account
- Confirmation that you want the account deleted
We respond within 5 business days and complete deletion within 30 days of confirming the request.
What we delete
When you delete your Svelio account, we permanently remove the following within 30 days:
- Your profile (name, avatar, email, timezone, Coach customization, preferred activities, health quiz answers)
- Your authentication record at AWS Cognito (sign-in becomes impossible)
- Every label and food-photo analysis you've scanned
- Every meal you've logged, every journal entry, every saved recipe and saved meal
- Your weight history, water log, fasting state, daily check-ins
- Your quick-log pins, food-memory entries, and personal food library
- Coach chat history and any voice recordings transcribed for Coach
- Any photos you've uploaded (label scans, food photos, journal photos, avatar)
- Your push-notification device tokens (you stop receiving notifications)
- Any active subscription on Svelio's side; you'll also want to cancel any auto-renewing Pro subscription via Google Play (Play Store → Subscriptions) or Apple ID Subscriptions, since billing platforms manage those rails directly
What we may retain (and why)
A small set of records is retained for compliance, fraud prevention, or service operation:
- Payment records: our payment processors (Stripe, RevenueCat, Apple, Google Play) retain transaction history independently for tax and accounting compliance. We cannot delete records held by those processors. Most jurisdictions require ~7 years retention.
- Error logs (Sentry): if your account triggered an error in our app or backend in the last 90 days, the error context may include your email or Cognito user ID for that 90-day window. Auto-purged after 90 days.
- Anonymized analytics (PostHog): aggregate, non-identifying usage events (page views, feature adoption) may persist in analytics. Identifiers tied to your account are removed; aggregate counts remain.
- Operational backups: AWS DynamoDB point-in-time-recovery snapshots may contain your records for up to 35 days after deletion. Snapshots roll off automatically.
Timeline
- Immediately: your account is signed out, you can no longer access Svelio with that email.
- Within 24 hours: profile, analyses, journal entries, photos, and Coach history are removed from active storage.
- Within 30 days: data is purged from any active replicas + secondary indexes.
- Within 35 days: point-in-time-recovery snapshots roll off; data is unrecoverable.
- 90 days: Sentry error logs (if any) are auto-purged.
